City of Phx JO Tournament Rules

 

Pool Play

Game time shall be 1 hour 15 minutes with no new inning starting after this time.

Drop Dead time 1 hour 30 minutes.

 

Elimination games

Game time shall be 1 hour 15 minutes with no new inning starting after this time.

Championship games shall be 1 hour 30 minutes with no new inning.

 

Game clocks will be mounted on a fence so that both teams can see the time.

Forfeit time is game time.

Game time starts at the end of the pre-game meeting between the umpires and the coaches.

A minimum of eight players is required to start a game.

Teams must be in like uniforms.  Uniforms must have numbers.

Lineups will be given to the home plate umpire and to the opposing team.

Ball rotation will not be enforced.

 

***As soon as umpires pre-game instructions start ALL infield warm-ups must stop***

 

Run rules:

15 runs after any completed inning

                12 runs after 3 innings

                10 runs after 4 innings

                  8 runs after 5 innings

       10U - 6 runs per inning.  The side is retired after 6 runs have scored or three outs have been made.  EXCEPTION: all runs score that are the result of continuous action that scores the 6th run.

Ties in pool play:

If the game is tied when time expires and the inning in progress is completed, it will remain a tie score.

   Exceptions:

          In pools with only two teams the game must have a winner.

If any pool game is tied at the end of 7 innings and time has not expired, the tie breaker rule will be used in the 8th inning and every inning thereafter until a winner is decided or time expires.  If the game is still tied when time expires and the inning in progress is completed, it will remain a tie score.

Ties in bracket play:

If the score is tied at the end of 7 innings or when time expires (whichever comes first) the tiebreaker rule will be used in the next inning and every inning thereafter until a winner is decided.

Coaches on the field:

One defensive is coach allowed on the field but must remain mobile during play.  All dugout gates must be closed.

Team Huddles:

Teams may not huddle prior to taking defensive positions or after the pitcher’s

warm-ups.  The one-minute rule will be enforced.

Catchers:

Any JO player warming up a pitcher must wear a helmet and mask with a throat protector. It does not matter if the receiving player is standing or catching in a crouch.  Failure to comply may result in the catching player’s disqualification for the game.
