Phoenix Amateur Softball Association is continuing its youth
individual registration process this 2005
season. All Phoenix ASA Junior Olympic players, coaches, assistants,
managers and all team staff personnel will continue to register as
individuals, not as a team. The Amateur Softball Association is one of
the last youth sports organizations to utilize the individual
registration system.
FYI The following Amateur Softball Associations Association are Registering their Junior Olympic teams with the Amateur Softball Association Individual registration system: Maine, Rhode Island, Boston, New Jersey, Washington D.C., Pennsylvania, Piedmont VA., South Florida, Central Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, Okalahoma, Memphis, Oklahoma City, Texas, Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston, Michigan, Wisconsin, Detroit, Indiana Kentucky, Cincinnati, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, Wyoming, Phoenix, Hawaii, Northern California, Southern California, Central California, Oakland, Sacramento, San Francisco, The Greater San Joaquin, Nevada, Alaska, Idaho, Oregon, Washington, Portland, Seattle. And that number will increase in 2005. ASA is one of the last sports to go to an individual registration system.
For the 2005 season Phoenix ASA will continue to do registration
through Virtual Tournament Director. This is an on line process @ www.fastpitchsoftball.net.
(214-331-2500) with this website process each player in the “A” and/or
“B’ Classifications will receive two credit card style, pictured ASA Player ID Cards.
This ID card provides Proof of Insurance, Proof of Age,
Signature and a Photo, that is now required for Championship play. Note: Legal birth name must be on
registration form. No Sunglasses, Visors, and Hats are to be worn by
any individual for these photos. PLEASE realize that these are your
official Identification for ASA. Suggestion: Only a head shot photo
against a light colored back ground.
Please Note: If there has been a legal name change that proof of
such change must accompany any registration. Proof of Birth will still
need to be provided for the initial registration in
The cost for 2005 in “A” and/or ‘B” Classification of individual registration is the same as 2004, $20.00 each, which includes a zero deductible secondary medical / liability insurance policy (note if the player has no insurance coverage while participating this policy will become their primary coverage). The back of the card provides information regarding insurance coverage and the number to call in case of an accident. FedEx or USPS fees will be provided at the time of on- line processing and paid by the team.
Note: All registration requests must be received by the JO
Commissioner a minimum of 15 days prior to
participation in any 2005 ASA events. If the required
information is NOT received after 10 days from the positing date, the
data will be deleted from VTD and the team must reenter the data and
create a new invoice.
NEW: 2005 Junior Olympic ”Recreational” Classification teams and/or leagues will also be required to individually register all Junior Olympic players, coaches, assistants, managers and ANY team staff personnel as individuals, not as a team. This will be an on-line process @ www.fastpitchsoftball.net also. With this registration each member will receive one ASA Identification card. The cost for “Recreational teams/leagues” per individual registration is now $8.00 each and includes a zero deductible medical insurance policy. FedEx or USPS fees will be provided at the time of on-line processing and paid by the team.
Note: Recreational teams / leagues have the option of registering to receive the picture Identification cards at the above $20.00 cost
NOTE: Any recreational player/coach etc that elects
to move to “A” or “B” classification may do so after “recreational
registration” for an additional cost of $12.00. This upgrade to their
ASA Registration will give them two credit card style,
pictured ASA Player ID Cards. This ID card
provides Proof of Insurance, Proof of Age and a Photo, that is all now
required for Championship play. Note: Birth certificates
will still need to be provided for the initial registration for all
players.
Once registered with
Each registrant will also receive discounts on official ASA licensed
merchandise. Also every coach, assistant coach, staff personnel and
manager that is registered with Phoenix ASA will receive a rule and
score book.

2005:
Coaches
(“A” &
“B”
Classification) must
turn in a Championship Roster completely filled out and copies of proof
of birth for all players currently on their team.
Insurance
Information

$2,000,000 Liability
Insurance, plus $250,000 Excess Accident Medical Insurance. If no other
accident/medical insurance exists, then this coverage would be primary,
otherwise this coverage would supplement any existing coverage the
individual registrant may have.

This
coverage is in effect when the registered player is traveling to and
from practice.
Ø
The coverage
follows the player who plays on a team that is registered
with ASA/USA Softball for the current year.
Ø
The coverage
follows the player if she/he goes to play on his/her own to play on an
ASA/USA Softball registered team in an ASA/USA Sanctioned Tournament.
Ø
The coverage
follows the players on an individually registered team if the team
plays in a non-ASA sanctioned event.
Ø
The coverage does not apply if the player plays on a team that is not
registered with the ASA.
Ø
The coverage does not apply if the player goes on her/his own to play
in a non-ASA sanctioned event.
